~Jed's Update~
March 2006:
Woohoo... it's been 10 years since we did our first show as the band "Gin House Jed" and we will celebrate that on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Borders in Woodbury with our 10th Anniversary Show. The show starts at 8:00 PM. Sonja, John, Jamie and I are excited to have Chris Vorrie sit in on piano/keys for the show. Will our 10th Anniversary Show feature special guests from our past & present, cool giveaways, a large cake from Sam's Club?? Possibly... but don't worry, we'll do something unusual I'm sure. Also, in a trivial sense, the upcoming show will be our 100th gig as GHJ. Obviously, that's not an astounding number of appearances over ten years (or seven years, if you count the three year sabbatical), but then again, for a part-time hobbyist songwriter/guitarist that occasionally attempts to sing, it has been more than enough to fill my leisure time! I wisely never quit my day job... never remotely considered that, well for music reasons anyway. Yes it's true, I am the only remaining member from the original group that first graced the stage on Thursday, April 3, 1997 @ O'Gara's Garage in Saint Paul which consisted of brothers Tim (drums), Jon (bass) and friend Steve Napp (lead guitar). Since then, I have had the opportunity to jam with many great musicians who are also great people. The best part of the whole thing has been the support of family, friends & fans that come out to this day to see our shows. That's the best part. The current GHJ cast of me, Sonja, John & Jamie are having a ton-o-fun doing the full band acoustic shows and plan to continue adding new originals and cover tunes to the mix. After this show, we'll be taking at least a few months off as Sonja and I have our baby boy due in early May. We're planning a couple of shows this fall once we settle in with child #3. Yes my friends, much has changed in 10 years… most for the better. I've lost some hair, but I've gained many more riches through faith, family & friends. Thanks – and we'll see you at Borders, if not sooner...
Stay cool...............................................................................
